We treat a variety of injuries including injuries of the spine, shoulder, elbow, hand, hip, knee, foot and ankle. Our therapists will help you recover from injury, rehabilitate after surgery, help to prevent future injuries, and help you reach your fitness goals. For those looking to continue beyond therapy, wellness and sport specific training is available.

The Glendale Clinic specializes in the treatment of orthopedic injuries and sports management.

Cecil Neal, PT

  • Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Northern Arizona University
  • Bachelors of Science in Accounting from Arizona State University
  • Manager of the Arrowhead Physical Therapy Clinic
  • Over 25 years working with the TOCA physicians

Cecil has worked with a number of orthopedic conditions successfully. Cecil played basketball in college and he continues to stay active in the sports community today. Cecil has led his clinic in teaching the Total Knee Class monthly.

Steven Hennenhoefer, PTA

  • Bachelor of Science from University of Kansas
  • Associates in Physical Therapy Assistant Program

Steve has been in the valley for 8 years. He has worked with Dr Shirley Sahrmann and many of her colleagues for 8 years where he practiced her theories associated with movement impairment syndromes. He is an avid cyclist, triathlete, and hockey player.

Our clinic offers hand therapy from Certified Hand Therapy Specialists, Physical Therapists specializing in ASTYM, and Physical Therapists that are Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

Alex Anderson, PT, DPT, COMT

Alex is the Manager of Physical Therapy for the TOCA Phoenix  clinic. As an Arizona native, he graduated Arizona State University with a BA in American Studies. Alex then attended Midwestern University in Glendale to complete his Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Alex has extensive training and background in Manual Therapy and is certified as an Orthopedic Manual Therapist through the Maitland-Australian Approach. Additionally, Alex is trained by a mentor in the McKenzie Approach, Graston IASTM, and taping.

On his off time, Alex enjoys spending it with his wife, three boys, and three dogs.

Gaury Alfaro, PT, DPT

  • Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Midwestern University
  • Bachelor of Science in Human Biology, Indiana
  • Fluent in Spanish

Gaury is a physical therapist specializing in the treatment of orthopedic injuries and has experience in neurologic and pediatric rehabilitation. She strives to provide the best patient-centered care through a holistic approach and ongoing education. Gaury completed her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Midwestern University in Arizona, where she was involved in various extracurricular activities. She obtained her bachelor’s degree from Indiana University where she majored in Human Biology. She is also fluent in Spanish.

TOCA’s Scottsdale Physical Therapy Clinic is located in the McDowell Mountain Medical building.

Our clinic offers Physical Therapy services for Orthopedic and Sports Medicine related injuries.

Our physical therapists specialize in, but are not limited to, functional movement screening, an array of manual therapy techniques, dry needling, and optimal performance training. Our physical therapists are also Certified Athletic Trainers, and Performance Enhancement Specialists through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.

William C. Brown, PT, ATC, SCS

  • Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Iowa
  • Certified Athletic Trainer, National Athletic Trainer’s Association
  • Certified Senior Strength Trainer; International Weightlifting Association
  • ASTYM certified

Bill is the TOCA Scottsdale Physical Therapy Manager. Originally from Iowa, he has over 37 years of physical therapy and athletic training experience. Bill enjoys all things orthopedic including the knee, shoulder, ankle, elbow and spine injuries. He is a clinical specialist in sports physical therapy as well as a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and Sports Physical Therapy Section.

Madison Denk, PTA

Madison is a physical therapist assistant with four years of experience in orthopedic and sports medicine rehabilitation. She is a native of Dayton, Ohio and graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. She then went on to Shawnee State University and completed the Physical Therapist Assistant program. She worked for three years in the Cincinnati/ northern Kentucky area before moving to Phoenix in 2017.

Her and her husband are residents of Phoenix and enjoy hiking, working out, and traveling.

The Tempe clinic enjoys the diversity of population that the Tempe metropolitan area has to offer.

Our patient population varies from the high school athlete, weekend warrior to geriatric care.

We coordinate the Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA) joint education class and continue to offer on a monthly basis for our TOCA joint replacement physicians on site. The Tempe clinic situated near Arizona State University has an additional “sports rehab” room dedicated to the rehabilitation of athletes with space and equipment required to perform return to sports activities such as running, ladder, and throwing drills.

Our therapists have experience with rehabilitation of the weekend warrior to the collegiate athlete. Each therapist has further continuing education in sports rehab. This 4000 sq foot facility is dedicated to all aspects of orthopedics.

The Tempe Physical Therapy has extensive hours to cater to the working population with early and late appointment times. We have locker and shower facilities.

Jason is the Regional Director for the Tempe Physical Therapy clinic. He has over 9 years of orthopedic experience. He also has advanced clinical training in postural restoration (PRI), advance spinal and extremity Thrust techniques, Selective Functional Movement Analysis (SFMA), and has recently been accepted in the manual therapy certification training through the Evidence in Motion (EIM).

Jason recently completed his certification in ASTYM. Astym treatment is a regenerative soft tissue therapy that rebuilds and heals the soft tissues of the body. To read more about Astym treatment click here.

Andrew Gibson, DPT

  • Doctor of Physical Therapy from A. T. Still University
  • Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Indiana University

Andrew is the Assistant Manager for the Tempe Physical Therapy clinic and his passion lies within the realm of orthopedic rehabilitation, working with patients to restore their function following injuries or surgeries. He is a native of Indiana and continues to follow his Hoosiers from afar. His hobbies include jogging, hiking, and attending sporting events with his wife Nadine, a physical therapist also.
