Fellowship at TOCA

Participation in organized sports and weekend warriors are on the rise.  This has resulted in startling statistics where sports injuries among young athletes are increasing.  With this in mind, “The Orthopedic Clinic Association in conjunction with Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center took the lead in developing the first ACGME accredited Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship in the state of Arizona.”

The fellowship program faculty members include Evan S. Lederman, MD, Thomas R. Carter, MD, and Kostas Economopoulos, MD.  The program faculty are nationally recognized for their excellence in orthopedic sports medicine.  Their mission is to educate fellows for careers in orthopedic sports medicine, academics, teaching and research while serving patients through innovative and comprehensive orthopedic care.

Our fellowship program is a one-year clinical & surgical experience in orthopedic sports medicine.  To enhance their training, the fellow has longitudinal exposure to primary care sports medicine, and is given the opportunity to train at state-of-the-art surgery facilities. During their training, fellows are exposed to professional, college, and high school athletes. Our program offers our fellows a multitude of opportunities to advance and master their skills as it relates to sports medicine injuries and research.
